Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed with a rivet link at the factory. A rivet link is always used for high-performance vehicles, meaning heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip link, proper permanent insoluble riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Both types require special tools for proper riveting!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed open with a punch after fitting the outer plate for security, the tool simply flattens the head for solid rivet pins. After proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the master link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain links.
