Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (non-sealed or sealed with rubber rings) that are permanently secured from the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, which means heavily loaded and fast-running chains. In contrast to the aforementioned clip-type connecting link, proper, permanent, and inseparable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different versions of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are splayed with a punch for securing after fitting the outer plate, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer see any difference from the surrounding chain links.
