Rivet link:Most motorcycles are now delivered with endless chains (unsealed or sealed with O-rings) which are permanently closed at the factory with a rivet link. A rivet link is always used on high-performance vehicles, and thus on heavily stressed and fast-running chains. In contrast to the clip-type connecting link mentioned above, proper, permanent, non-detachable riveting is the safer option.
Note on rivet links:
There are two different types of rivet links on the market – with hollow rivets or solid rivets. Special tools are required for proper riveting of both types!
While hollow rivet pins are spread open with a drift after the outer plate is applied for security, the tool simply flattens the head of solid rivet pins. After the proper and professional riveting of the solid rivet pins of the connecting link, you will no longer notice any difference from the surrounding chain link plates.
